PeterPeter Vujovich – Owner/CEO

After completing his studies in philosophy Peter Vujovich took a detour to Richmond, VA where he worked for the Daughters of the Confederacy, a renovation company specializing in Historical Preservation projects like the restoration of Robert E. Lee’s home.

It was 1977 when Peter Vujovich returned to the Twin Cities to launch his own renovation firm. Peter’s vision was clear – build a reputation on a rock-solid foundation of professionalism and integrity. In 1986, he was joined by business partner, Ed Roskowinski, and together they continued to build a premier design build company around the idea of creating value through systemization and long-term client relationships.

Peter currently lives with his wife, two Alaskan Malamutes and three horses on an idyllic property in Afton. His home, only the second to receive a Gold certification from MN GreenStar “The Idea Farm” as it’s been named by Midwest Home Magazine, combines green technologies and sustainable practices with beautiful and practical architecture.

EdEd Roskowinski, CR, AA Computer Programming, GreenStar Qualified Professional – Owner/General Manager

As general manager, Ed has created a viable, sustainable company out of a small family business. He’s made it a place where people want to work – and a company that homeowners want to work with. He is the mastermind behind much of the company’s business strategies, and while he uses several metrics to measure success, the key measure he continues to focus on is the satisfaction of clients – and their referrals.
Ed joined Vujovich in 1986 and has since applied his quiet brand of productive intensity with best intentions and integrity. He strives to further the company culture of a hardworking family whose success stems from all enjoying what they’re great at doing. He has the ability to see through a challenge and quickly work toward a solution, and his willingness to be all-in is contagious. He is also all-in when spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.

LorenLoren Johnson – Finance Director / CFO

Loren joined Vujovich in 1995. As CFO, he remains committed to his early adopted principles of working efficiently, building up reserves and spending judiciously to keep a business solvent. In addition to office management, Loren’s first priority is the implementation and management of our accounting system, to accurately predict the immediate status of our projects and company at any time.

Loren’s earliest interest in accounting came when he was twelve. He recruited two brothers to help make his paper route more productive. Loren kept them busy doing deliveries while he kept the books. Later, he went on to run his own construction company – again with two of his brothers and Loren in charge of finances and operations.

Loren continuously looks to improve upon efficient organizational systems that are critical to the flow of our business, including client services and paying the skilled workers who deliver these services. Loren and his wife currently live in Savage and have two grown children and three grandchildren.

Nikki’s favorite roles are our nutritionist and our den mother – bringing in homemade treats and enlightening us on how something so good can actually be good for us.

Her contagious laugh fills our office, radiating positive energy. Nikki loves that each day’s experience brings something new and unexpected, and she jumps right into both. Previous to Vujovich, Nikki has had a wide-range of experiences from UPS driver to travel agent, she’s handled admin for nearly 60 people in four states and purchased hardware and software for companies with 1,500 people. Wright’s ideas of moving through space, shaping and manipulating to heighten an experience, rhythm and pattern in design elements, and crafting a structure to fit its site and context are all core elements that Greg considers on every project.

Greg grew up in Milwaukee Wisconsin, where as a young man he drew floor plans of his childhood home and came up with ideas for how his parents could add on and remodel. He was also the kid that watch episodes of This Old House on Saturday mornings. Chris-MChris McGuire, CLC, Certified Lead Renovator, BA Business Management – Production Director

As Vujovich’s Production Director, Chris has created and nurtured a formidable team of Vujovich Project Managers who oversee every detail of their renovation projects. He creates the majority of our project estimates and is known for meticulous attention to detail and accuracy. He manages relationships with all subcontractors and suppliers, and works hard to make sure our clients get the best deal possible.

After graduating from St. Johns with a business management degree, Chris followed his curiosity and spent a year framing homes. Shifting to a corporate career, he thought he’d sufficiently scratched the itch for building. After exploring architecture in Europe for six months with his wife, an interior designer, Chris began his career with Vujovich in 1999.

Chris has worked on Habitat for Humanity projects and managed the philanthropic
Greater Minneapolis Crisis Nursery project for Vujovich. He currently lives in Eden Prairie with his wife and two daughters.

Paul is a longstanding volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Prior to joining Vujovich in 1998, Paul spent 20 years in various areas of construction – from light commercial to industrial and high-rise work. Throughout his many varied experiences, his favorite has always been residential remodeling, because every day it serves up something new.

Paul relishes remodeling challenges because they deal in environments and parameters that are already there – the best part to him is the problem solving. Paul has a passion for doing high-quality trim work and claims his love of carpentry is a “lifetime commitment” carried forward from his father, a general contractor whose example taught him not to try running a business from the dining room table.

He likes the personality of Vujovich and enjoys his close interaction with company leaders. At home in Paul and his wife’s White Bear Lake neighborhood, he is appreciated as the resident handyman/consultant, a role he is proud of and happy to play.

Chris-AChris Aldrich, CLC, Certified Lead Renovator – Project Manager

Looking to combine his passion for creating relationships and his carpentry expertise, Chris accepted a Project Management position at Vujovich in 2007. Some of his favorite projects include the construction of the Lyndale Park Peace Bridge and the Passive House Exhibit at the 2011 Minnesota State Fair Eco-Experience.

Chris is tolerant, open-minded, flexible and adaptable, enjoying the present moment. After an architecture and drafting class in high school, Mike went on to commercial carpentry and then worked as the Foreman for a local residential finish carpentry firm.

Mike enjoys the different challenges that each project presents, meeting new clients and making them happy, putting a great product together, and feeling proud of the results. He currently lives in Chaska and has a daughter attending the Minneapolis College of Art and Design.

Patrick (Swede) Carlander – Master Carpenter

Not many American companies have the distinction of having a Swedish Master Carpenter on their team. Our Swede spent his childhood in Vetlanda Sweden, where his family still lives today. He grew up helping his grandpa and great-grandpa build log homes and other structures for the locals in southern Sweden.

Since coming to the US, Swede has worked for several construction and remodeling companies, primarily as a Master Carpenter on luxury projects, including a thirteen million dollar remodel. For Swede, developing, fostering, improving, and honing his skills is to be a life’s work, driven to achieve complete competence in all he does. He systematically sets about seeking perfection in his creations in an efficient and effective manner.

Carpentry has been a part of Swede’s life for more than 30 years, working hard to see ideas translated into reality. Swede, his wife, daughter, and German Shepard named Essex (named for the town in the UK) currently live in St. Louis Park.

Caleb Prohaska, BS Construction Engineering – Carpenter

Caleb joined Vujovich in the spring of 2016 after spending some time working with a local concrete contractor. His enthusiasm and drive combined with his ideas and insights made him an immediate asset to our team. He is lively, with an infectious energy and a desire for life-long learning.

Caleb grew up in the farming community of Garner Iowa where his first building experience came when he and his father built a small A-Frame house affectionately called “The Shack”. Choosing to attend school near his home town, Caleb received his Construction Engineering degree from Iowa State University. While at ISU, Caleb co-chaired his fraternity’s Lawn Display Committee, building full scale structures for homecoming events.

Upon arriving in Minnesota, Caleb worked for a Twin Cities’ business and litigation consulting firm where he fostered his innate professionalism, but eventually found his way back to the construction industry. Caleb continues feeding his creative and action-oriented personality at his current “fixer upper home” in St. Louis Park.
